Wildland firefighters are on the front lines of the climate crisis. Every year, longer and more intense fire seasons put them in harm’s way as they protect communities, forests, and critical infrastructure. Despite this, their work is still not fully recognized or protected.

Safe staffing, fair wages, humane working conditions, and real retention and recruitment are the foundation of a strong public health care system. Right now, that foundation is cracking.
